Pakistan Women defeated by West Indies Women in a thrilling T20i match

West Indies Women defeat Pakistan Women in a last-ball thriller by one run in the first T20i of the series at the National Stadium Karachi on April 26th.

Pakistani bowlers had restricted West Indies to 123 as they lost their captain Hayley Matthews on just the second ball of the game.

Qiana Joseph turned out to be their highest scorer at 34 runs on 36 balls followed by Stefanie Taylor who scored 30 on 32.

Star bowler Fatima Sana dismissed three West Indies batters for 24 runs. Sadia Iqbal took two wickets while Diana Baig, Nida Dar, and Tuba Hassan took one each.

Pakistan was seemingly chasing it but a collapse triggered by the opposition led them to lose openers Gul Feroza, Sidra Ameen, and Ayesha Zafar.

The captain, Nida Dar came in and tried to form steady partnerships with her players but nothing worked as she managed to get 22 runs at 20 balls and then 28 runs at 26 balls with Muniba Ali and Aliya Riaz respectively.

Aliya was dismissed by Karishma Ramharack and it left Pakistan 104-5 at the start of the 18th over. She then dismissed Fatima Sana and then Dar in the same over and Pakistan further crumbled.

Still, Najiha Alvi and Tuba Hassan tried to get Pakistan over the edge as they only needed two runs to win on the last ball.

When that chance got out of hand, Alvi tried to get one run to tie the match and get a super over for the results. It was then when Hassan was run out by West Indies wicketkeeper Shemaine Campbell and the visiting side defeated the home side in a last-ball thriller.

Ramharack took 4 wickets at 15 runs while Afy Fletcher, Hayley Matthews, and Qiana Joseph took one wicket each.

The second match in the five-match T20i series will take place tomorrow April 28th at National Stadium Karachi.
