Latest News: Philadelphia 76ers Just Signs David Jones to Two-Way Contract

In the latest update delivered by President of Basketball Operations Daryl Morey, The Philadelphia 76ers have entered contracts with David Jones for the 2024/2025 season, for a two-way contract.

Jones the 6’6″ wing from the Dominican Republic had played a very good junior season at Memphis contributing 21.8 points, 7.6 rebounds, and 2.2 steals per game. There is information that he was the 21st top free agent according to ESPN. It signals the direction the 76ers are heading by increasing the level of talent in their roster with versatility. 

David Jones: A Rising Star Joins the 76ers 

Jones who can score acrobatically and move around as a player on the defensive has played for DePaul, St. John’s, and transferred to Memphis College. The Memphis game demonstrated that he could play for Memphis and at the professional level if given the chance. 

The NBA Summer League games that Jones participated in when he was in the 76ers were during the Salt Lake City Summer League and the NBA Summer League in Las Vegas where he participated in seven games. He averaged 9. 1 point, 5. 6 rebounds, and 1. 7 steals per game. Especially for the last regular season game against Boston on Sunday, he contributed 23 points on 9-15 shooting, eight rebounds, and three blocked shots.

Such a signing is an underinvestment for the Sixers to build up their layers of a roster while keeping them at par with other NBA teams. From the arrival of Jones, the Philadelphia fans have got a new prospect to look up to in the team and rising to prominence in the basketball world.
