Virat Kohli names yet another record in the IPL history
Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) batter Virat Kohli becomes the first player to score 3000 runs in the Indian Premier League (IPL) at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium during a match against Chennai Super Kings (CSK) in Bangalore on May 18th, Saturday.
Kohli achieved the feat after 17 IPL editions and in his 86th inning on the ground. His feat comes in at the same venue where he made his debut.
The venue holds more importance as it hosted the first-ever IPL match in 2008. The match was played between RCB and Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR).
Ironically, in the first match, Kohli only scored a single run, and years later he scored his 3000th IPL run at a single venue.

Kohli went big after that match scoring 22 fifties and four hundreds at the venue. Also striking 124 sixes on the ground.
His four centuries at a single venue are the most by any IPL batter. Not only this, Kohli is the leading run-scorer of IPL 2024 and also leads the all-time run chart of the league.
He is also extremely close to scoring 8000 IPL runs. He currently sits at 7924 runs in 250 matches and 242 innings.
He is followed by former Mumbai Indian captain Rohit Sharma, who scored 2000 IPL runs at a venue with his 2295 runs at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai.
