Update on MS Dhoni’s retirement from CSK in IPL
MS Dhoni’s future in the Indian Premier League has been a hot topic of discussion for cricket fans for a long time and the Chennai Super Kings (CSK) has provided an update on the former skipper of CSK and India.
While Dhoni has stepped away from international cricket, his future in the IPL remains unclear. Though many suspected the 2024 season might be his last, there’s no official confirmation from Dhoni himself.
Dhoni’s future in cricket remains uncertain. A Chennai Super Kings official revealed to The Times of India that Dhoni is taking a few months to decide on his retirement. This news comes after CSK’s heartbreaking loss to Royal Challengers Bangalore, which Dhoni seemed to take especially hard, possibly due to it being his final season.

According to the official, the 42-year-old has not told anyone in the CSK management that he is quitting. What he has informed them about is that he will take a few months to think before making the final decision.
The source has also said that they will wait for Dhoni’s call and will carry out whatever Dhoni decides as he decides what is best for the team.
It should be noted that MS Dhoni has played 14 innings in the IPL 2024 and has scored 161 runs batting at number 8 with an average of 53.67 and the highest score of 37*. He has struck 14 fours and 13 sixes and taken 10 catches.
Dhoni has led India to victory in the 2011 Cricket World Cup, the T20 World Cup in 2007, and the ICC Champions Trophy in 2013. He has also led the team to win Asia Cups in 2010 and 2016 and was in the winning squad in 2018.
As for CSK trophies, Dhoni has been captain in the trophy wins of 2010, 2011, 2018, 2021 and 2023.
