Rob Dillingham Approaches Draft Milestone with Relentless Focus
Despite declaring for the NBA Draft months ago, former Kentucky guard Rob Dillingham has yet to complete all the requirements to be selected in the upcoming draft this month. That will change later this week.
Rob Dillingham, invited to the 2024 NBA Draft Combine, could not fulfill all measurements and testing due to an ankle injury early in the week, sidelining him since. However, according to ESPN Draft Insider Jonathan Givony, Rob Dillingham will complete all additional requirements this week in Los Angeles.
“Dillingham has not yet completed all the requirements needed to be eligible for selection in the draft, per the NBA’s collective bargaining agreement,” Givony wrote. “An ankle injury prevented Dillingham from conducting athletic testing and shooting drills at the NBA draft combine in Chicago in mid-May and has thus far also prohibited him from attending private workouts with NBA teams.
“Dillingham’s ankle has healed, and he plans on fulfilling those requirements at the Lakers’ practice facility on Friday,” his agent Lucas Newton of Klutch Sports told ESPN.
Green Room Invitations Await
Invitations for the NBA Draft Green Room were sent out on Tuesday, including one to Reed Sheppard. Due to Dillingham’s injury, he has yet to receive one, but that should change after Friday’s testing is complete.
Rob Dillingham has been projected to go inside the top 10 for the majority of the pre-draft process. But after his injury, he hasn’t been as much of a lock as previously thought. Currently, he is still listed as No. 7 on ESPN’s Big Board. With his ability to create opportunities off the dribble, unlike any other guard in the 2024 draft class, his stock will remain high.
Rob Dillingham‘s Impressive Freshman Season
Dillingham is coming off a stellar freshman season, averaging 15.2 points, 3.9 assists, and shooting 44.4 percent from three. Despite starting just one game all year, his performance has kept him in high regard among draft prospects.
Completing his pre-draft requirements will solidify his standing and potentially secure him a coveted spot in the NBA Draft Green Room, setting the stage for the next chapter of his basketball career.
