Riley Meredith of Australia signed by Somerset for this year’s T20 Blast
Australian fast bowler Riley Meredith has been signed by Somerset to bolster their bowling attack for the T20 Blast. He’s committed to the team until at least the quarterfinals, potentially playing a key role in their title defense.
In addition to the Vitality Blast, Riley Meredith’s contract extends to the Metro Bank One-Day Cup group stages and a select few County Championship matches.
Meredith says that he is looking forward to the challenge of playing in English conditions and can’t wait to start playing.
He acknowledged that Somerset are the defending champions and he’ll do everything he can to help them retain their title.
Meredith has played five T20Is for Australia and has taken eight wickets and he has also played one ODI for Australia against West Indies in 2021.

A proven T20 performer, Meredith boasts an impressive 114 wickets in just 91 matches across various leagues. His bowling average sits at a commendable 25.42, with a best performance of 4 wickets for just 21 runs, achieved for the Hobart Hurricanes in the Big Bash League (BBL). He’s also gained experience in the IPL, representing both Mumbai Indians (MI) and Punjab Kings (PBKS).
Meredith added that the club Somerset is one of the biggest names in the English domestic arena and he is excited to be a part of their journey this edition.
Andy Hurry, Somerset’s Director of Cricket has said that they are very pleased to have Meredith in the squad and have a cricketer like his ability and experience as he bowls with real pace and skill which will add experience to their bowling attack.
He praised Meredith’s aims saying that he is driven to achieve further international and high-profile global franchise recognition, and they look forward to him playing a key role for Somerset this summer.
