PSL Franchises Are Unsatisfied With Officially Signed Players Joining The SPL
The board’s ban on previously contracted players from participating in these leagues is noteworthy.
On July 27, 2021, this development came after the PCB gave its approval. Wasim Khan (CEO) said that players who have contracts will not be able to compete in other tournaments. Several centrally recruited players from the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) like Iftikhar Ahmed, Salman Ali Agha, Tayab Tahir, and Shahnawaz Dahani are joining the Sindh Premier League (SPL) despite their earlier ban from PCB, sparking controversy.
On October 2023 According to league commissioner Naila Bhatti via email, the management committee has decided that the contracted players will not play in the Sindh league. Players involved in domestic cricket or PCB matters will not be allowed to attend the event.

However, this warranty appears to have been breached. The President’s final had to be postponed as the PCB players were playing in the SPL. Players drawing huge PSL salaries are playing elsewhere for less and depressed PSL clubs are planning to stage demonstrations. This unusual approach will affect the integrity of the PCB, it can have an impact on the upcoming PSL and regional cricket.
The fact that the PCB allowed contracted players to compete in the SPL is a huge betrayal of the PSL team’s trust. The corporation has made business decisions based on the assurance that such interference will not be permitted. With increased club competition and access to a larger talent pool, the financial crisis was affected by this sudden change.

The participation of PCB players in the SPL also has the potential to negatively impact domestic cricket. The President’s Trophy final has been postponed due to the unavailability of key players, and the overall quality of the competition may be diminished. Additionally, the focus on the SPL could lead to a decline in interest in other domestic tournaments.
There are many unanswered questions about PCBs and their handling of this problem. Why did the PCB change its mind about allowing players to join the SPL? What measures will be taken to prevent this type of revolution from happening again? How will the PCB protect the essence of domestic cricket while dealing with the PSL team’s problems?
The SPL controversy indicates that the PCB needs to be more transparent and accountable when making decisions. The board must also work to restore confidence in the PSL franchise and ensure that domestic cricket and its interests are protected. Only then can the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) be confident in its ability to manage the Pakistani cricket scene well.
The Pakistan Super League (PSL) is expected to start in less than two weeks। Discontented franchises are planning to hold a protest about this breach of agreement with PCB. Players who demand high fees in the PSL are currently playing in Karachi for less money.
