PSL 10: Pakistan Super League’s playoffs to be hosted in English venues
The Pakistan Cricket Board is discussing hosting some matches of the Pakistan Super League (PSL 10) next year in England venues.
According to reports, the PCB aims to host the playoffs the league’s 10th edition on three foreign English venues including Manchester, Birmingham, and the majestic The Oval in London.
Australia was also being considered for the foreign venue but England proved to be more beneficial for the league than Australia.
In England, there is a wide diaspora of Indians and Pakistanis, the move could help attract and incorporate the wider audience into the league’s culture.
The league then will have a chance to travel to other countries’ audiences.
Also, the move could legitimize PSL’s worth in the world of cricketing with the matches being hosted by one of the powerhouses of the cricket world.
With the potential move, England just won’t be giving its grounds to the PCB and PSL but its broadcasters as well. And those broadcasters have people watching from all over the world.
The league will have the potential and possibility of reaching and affirming itself in a wider audience.
It should be noted that the league has the possibility of being scheduled for the April-May window from April 8th to May 20th next year.
This decision has been made to avoid clashes with the ICC Champions Trophy 2025 to be hosted by Pakistan in the February-March window.
However, the April-May window will have the league clash with the Indian Premier League.
