Pitch installation underway at Nassau County International Cricket Stadium

The pitches for the T20 World Cup 2024 have arrived in New York just one month before the Men’s T20 World Cup kicks off, and the pitches will be installed at the Nassau County International Cricket Stadium which will host its first match of the event on June 3rd between South Africa and Sri Lanka.

10 pitches have arrived in New York for the venue and the pitches have been under preparation in Florida by the Adelaide Oval Turf Solutions.

The pitches have been on a long journey. Earlier, they were shipped from Adelaide, Australia to Florida where they were being prepared for the last journey to New York.

From Florida to New York, the pitches were transported through 20 semi-trailer trucks

The pitches are not only to be used in the stadium but only four of them will be prepared under the supervision of Adelaide Oval Head Pitch Curator Damian Hough while the six remaining pitches are going to be installed in nearby facilities for practice purposes.

Hough has been extremely pleased with how everything has turned out with the pitches. He is hoping that the pitch turns out to be a good T20 pitch having a good pace and good bounce.

He also added that you want batters to be able to play shots all over the ground and that has been their aim with the design of the pitches.

The under-construction stadium will host eight matches of the ICC event including the biggest match of the event on June 9th between arch rivals India and Pakistan.

Other teams to play at the venue include Canada, Ireland, South Africa Sri Lanka, Netherlands, Bangladesh, and the first-time hosts, USA.

The ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2024 is scheduled to begin on June 1st with the first match to be hosted by the USA and will be played between the hosts and Canada.
