Champions Trophy 2025

PCB proposes a single venue for India matches for the Champions Trophy 2025

Reports suggest that the Pakistan Cricket Board has put forward Lahore as the single venue for all matches of the Indian Cricket Team in the Champions Trophy 2025.

The PCB is looking for ways to get India to travel to Pakistan for the first time in 17 years.

This comes after the BCCI expressed hesitations to visit Pakistan for the Champions Trophy 2025 saying that the government would not give them the approval to travel to Pakistan due to the strained political relationship the two countries have.

A single venue solution could motivate the Indian government to permit the Indian Cricket Team to travel as it ensures maximum security in one city that will host all of the matches of Team India.

The PCB had plans to host the trophy and teams in three cities of Pakistan them being Karachi, Lahore, and Rawalpindi.

Having India’s matches in one city will help Pakistan’s security forces and authorities not plan the Indian team’s security measures all over the country. They will form one plan and implement it throughout the tournament for India’s matches.

Lahore being the single venue could also give the Indian government a sense of tranquility as the countries are joined by the Wagah border that is in Lahore.

The proposal is yet to be approved and is currently undergoing discussions with stakeholders to implement this plan effortlessly.

The Champions Trophy 2025 is scheduled to be hosted by Pakistan next year. This will be the first time since 1996 that Pakistan will host a global ICC event. The last was the ODI Cricket World Cup.
