PCB announces squad for the Pakistan women’s England tour, Nida Dar to lead the side

PCB announces squad for the Pakistan women’s England tour, Pakistan has announced an almost similar squad to the one participating in the series against West Indies for the tour of England.

In the Nida Dar-led squad, the only exceptions and replacements are Bismah Maroof who retired from international cricket a few days ago, and Sidra Nawaz who did not play a game in the series.

The two teams will play three T20Is and three ODIs from May 11th to May 29th in England.

Before the official matches, Pakistan will play a warm-up T20 on May 9th and an ODI on May 21st against an ECB Development XI side.

Earlier in April, the England cricket team’s captain, Heather Knight expressed her delight due to Pakistan’s tour of England. She said that the team has amazingly talented players and the England team won’t be taking them lightly.

The 2018 World Cup-winning captain also expressed her desire to visit Pakistan one day and play the team on Pakistani soil.

The Pakistani squad announced has not differed between the ODI and T20i sides so it is assumable that the squads for both of the formats’ series will be the same.

Pakistan has lost poorly in a three-match ODI home series against the visiting side, West Indies by 3-0 and has lost three matches in the five-match T20i series with two matches remaining.

It should also be remembered that the ODIs in the England tour are part of the ICC Women’s Championship 2022-2025 and Pakistan is currently on the fifth spot with 16 points. There are a total of 10 teams participating in the Championship and the first five will directly qualify for the 2025 ODI World Cup.
