Pakistan Cricket Teams head coach reflects on last night loss against New Zealand

Pakistan lost the fourth match by four runs in the T20i series against New Zealand on April 25th.

The team opted to ball first and restricted New Zealand’s team to 178/7.

Ultimately, Pakistani batters fell four runs short and finished the innings at 174/8.

This is the second match in the five-match T20I series Pakistan has lost against New Zealand on their turf.

This has caused the head coach of Pakistan, Azhar Mehmood to reflect on the team’s effort. While talking on the show, Pitch Side, he said he believed his players were better than New Zealand in some aspects while the visitors were better at the rest, resulting in their victory.

“There were a few positives for us as we scored more boundaries than New Zealand. We also bowled more dot balls but they just took more doubles than us. These are areas of concern for us and we’re constantly working on them,”

He also complimented Usman Khan for being steady and showing intent in his debut series although he didn’t score much in the three matches he has played.

“We always talk about showing intent. The way Usman Khan showed intent today was pleasant to watch. He played some good shots but couldn’t perform the way we wanted him to. But intent-wise, he was spot on,” he added.

The head coach also revealed that they have an idea of their best playing XI for the upcoming World Cup in the USA and the West Indies in June.

“We have an idea of our best playing XI but we wanted to try our bench strength as well before going into the World Cup. We’ve almost every base covered. There are a few injury setbacks which is unfortunate,” he further added.

The series decider of the Pak vs NZ T20i series will be played at Gaddafi Stadium Lahore on April 27th, Sunday.
