Pakistan’s Nida Dar becomes the highest wicket-taker in T20I cricket

Pakistan’s captain, Nida Dar, etched her name in history by becoming the leading wicket-taker in Women’s T20 Internationals.

During the second match against England in Northampton, her two wickets propelled her past Australia’s Megan Schutt (136 wickets) to the top of the all-time list with 137 wickets. This impressive feat came in her 141st T20I appearance.

Nida Dar and Schutt are followed by the dynamic Ellyse Perry of Australia who has 126 wickets under her belt.

The list continues with Anisa Mohammed of West Indies who has taken 125 wickets. The 5th highest wicket-taker in T20I cricket is Shabnim Ismail of South Africa with 123 wickets.

Nida Dar’s feat is a good indication for Pakistan, the team lost the match by 65 runs and England has taken the lead and won the series by a 2-0.

The hosts registered a target of 145 runs at the loss of six wickets with amazing performances from Maia Bouchier (30), Alice Capsey (31), and Nat Sciver-Brunt (31).

The low total was due to the efforts of Dar herself with figures of 2 for 33 with the bowl. Fatima Sana, Diana Baig, and Waheeda Akhtar took a wicket each.

Despite restricting the home side to such a low total, the Pakistani batters were bowled out for 79 in the 15.5 over as the English bowling swept them off their feet with Sophie

Ecclestone (3-11), Alice Capsey (2-4) and Sarah Glenn (2-10) leading the attack with their spin.

Although England has won the series, there is still one more match to go and it will be on May 19th in Leeds.
