Luka Doncic Poised for Record-Setting Supermax Extension in 2025
In two years, Luka Doncic could receive a significant amount of money. On Wednesday, the Dallas Mavericks player was selected for the All-NBA first team for the fifth consecutive year in the 2023-24 season.
While the young guard, aged 25, is playing in the Western Conference Finals for a chance to win the NBA championship, there is also another potential victory looming ahead. Because Luka Doncic has been recognized with All-NBA accolades for the past two years, he is now qualified to receive the biggest contract in NBA history if the Mavericks decide to offer him an extension in the summer of 2025, according to Bobby Marks from ESPN.
Luka Doncic, who was selected third overall in 2018, is currently under a $215 million designated extension he signed in 2022-23. There is a choice available for the player for the last year in 2026-27.
The possible supermax extension could increase the contract to a five-year deal worth $346,338,300, resulting in an average annual salary of $69,267,660. Even if he doesn’t make an All-NBA team next season, he would still qualify for the contract.
Here is a breakdown of the Luka Doncic’s contract year by year
- 2026-27: $59,713,500
- 2027-28: $64,490,580
- 2028-29: $69,267,660
- 2029-30: $74,044,740
- 2030-31: $78,821,820
Doncic would be in his 32nd year when the potential deal ends.

In July of 2023, Boston Celtics forward Jaylen Brown signed a five-year, $300 million extension, making it the biggest contract in the league at the moment. The agreement won’t come into effect until the upcoming season.
