James Anderson is all set to retire from Test Cricket

England’s James Anderson has announced retirement from Test cricket.

The third-highest wicket-taker in Test Cricket took to his social media and wrote a heartfelt letter to the world where he announced his retirement.

In the post, he has said the first Test of the summer at Lord’s will be his last Test match.

He said that his 20-year journey has been incredible and he got to play the game he has loved since he was a kid. He added that he is going to miss playing for England and walking out on the ground.

He wrote that he knew the time was right to let go and give a chance to other exceptional bowlers to live their dreams just like he got to as there is no greater feeling.

In the letter, he appreciated his wife Daniella, daughters Lola and Ruby, and his parents for supporting and loving him in his journey.

He also thanked the players who have played with him all these years and the coaches who have coached him.

He concluded the letter by saying that he is excited for the journey ahead and he thanked his fans and whoever supported him.

Reports came in yesterday that Anderson had met with head coach Brendon McCullum and decided to retire after discussing matters with the coach.

Anderson has played 187 Tests for England and is the third-highest wicket-taker of all time with 700 wickets. He took his 700th wicket against India in March.

Despite his 700 wickets feat, Anderson has been out of form in recent years and was dropped in 2022 along with Stuart Broad for a Test series against the West Indies but was later called back by the captain Ben Stokes and head coach Brendon McCullum.

In his most recent matches, he only took 15 wickets in eight games.

His retirement will come in time for England’s search for young pacers for the national team.
