Australia’s skipper Steve Smith won the toss and elected to bowl first against India in the second ODI match on Sunday in Indore.

India vs Australia 2nd ODI: Shubman Gill and Ruturaj Gaikwad have exhibited an outstanding display, Team India has a praiseworthy start in the second One Day International. In contrast, the Australian bowlers are diligently striving for swift dismissals to secure a favorable position in the match. The interim captain of Australia, Steve Smith, won the coin toss and opted to bowl first against India in the second ODI encounter held on Sunday in Indore. Unfortunately, India will be without the services of their esteemed fast bowler, Jasprit Bumrah, who has been replaced by Praisdh Krishna in the Playing XI.

India has exhibited exceptional consistency in all aspects of the game, as exemplified by their impressive display in the initial One Day International (ODI) against Australia on Friday. Given their current form and the outcome of the Mohali match, India is presented with a superb opportunity to establish an insurmountable 2-0 lead in the ongoing series with the second ODI taking place today in Indore.

However, it is of greater significance that this represents the final opportunity for players such as Ravichandran Ashwin, Shreyas Iyer, and Suryakumar Yadav to establish a lasting impression prior to the return of senior players, including Virat Kohli, Rohit Sharma, Hardik Pandya, and Kuldeep Yadav, for India’s ultimate official match before the World Cup. Shreyas, in particular, is eager to rediscover his form after being excluded from the previous match on a flat surface. As India’s designated number four, Shreyas’ physical condition was a subject of discussion during the Asia Cup, and he has been unable to spend significant time at the crease due to various reasons.

Australia, much like India, was lacking key players in the opening match, specifically Mitchell Starc, Glenn Maxwell, and Josh Hazlewood. Captain Pat Cummins subtly hinted that they might be ready for the third game in Rajkot on September 27. Australia had previously triumphed in a series against India earlier this year; however, they now find themselves in a crucial situation where winning on Sunday is absolutely necessary. While Josh Inglis showed promise with an impressive score of 45 runs off 45 balls, the middle-order must aim for improved consistency.
