PAKISTAN IS OUT OF U-19 WORLD CUP AFTER LOSING SEMI-FINAL FROM AUSTRALIA
Pakistan played and lost against Australia in the second semifinal of the ICC Under-19 Cricket World Cup at Willowmoore Park in Benoni, South Africa on 8 February 2024.

In today’s match, Australia won the toss and decided to bowl first and let the Pakistan team bat first and score runs that Australia can chase. In the first innings, the Pakistani opening pair consists of Shamyl Hussain and Shahzaib Khan. They tried to play at an average rate rather than playing fast and exceptionally they both got out by Tom Straker and Cullen Vidler at a score of 27.
After losing their both opening batsmen Pakistan’s batting line-up struggled and then Azan Awais came to the crease and tried to stop the wickets from falling, he was scoring too slowly but he remained on the wickets for a long time, he tried his best to stay on the crease but his fellow teammates, Saad Baig (3 for 11), Ahmad Hassan (4 for 18), and Haroon Arshad (8 from 27), gave their wickets too early to Australian bowlers. Arafat Minhas was the next batsman. He had a good partnership with Azan Awais when Azan got out by Tom Straker, he scored 52 from 91 balls at an average of 57.14.

After this partnership was broken by the Australian bowlers, Arafat Minhas had his amazing 50 he scored 52 runs on 62 balls with an average of 62.25. after these wickets Pakistani batting lineup could not come back to its potential and the next all-batsman was out in no time with Ali Raza giving his wicket on a duck. Pakistan team was all-out on 179 in the 49th over. Tom Straker got 6 wickets today that directly led his team to the finals.
After the match, Australian was up for some talk and he said he believed in his boys, he said it was a little difficult for us to leave Charlie Aderson, but he was happy by the performance of Tom Straker he played brilliantly today, and he said we are looking further to win the match against India.

In the 2nd innings, Pakistani bowlers didn’t have a great start, but Ali Raza got the wicket of Sam Konstas who scored 14 runs in 31 balls. After this wicket Pakistani bowler’s confidence increased and they got three wickets in no time. These were the wickets of Hugh Weibgen, Harjas Sing, and Ryan Hicks these wickets were taken by Naveed Ahmad Khan and Ubaid Shah and one run out of Hrajas Sing by Arafat Minhas. Harry Dixon and Ollie Peake had a good partnership, but this was also broken by Arafat Minhas when he took the wicket of Harry Dixon when he already scored 50 from 75 balls.
The next batsman was Tom Edward Cambell, he tried his best to stay as long as possible, but he was also got out by Arafat Minhas. After this wicket loss, Rafael helped Ollie to come close to the required runs when Ali Raza struck again and took the strong and important wicket of Ollie Peake. He scored a brilliant 49 out of 75, after that Ali Raza had his two brilliant wickets in the 46th over but the remaining two batsmen took the match to the end and won the match for Australia. Ali Raza got 4 wickets in today’s match. With that Australia won today’s match by 1 wicket.
Saad Baig, the captain of Pakistan Under-19, expressed that being on the losing side is tough. He believes they should have scored 20 more runs. Baig credited the Australians for their outstanding performance. He also praised his bowlers, particularly Ali Raza. Baig mentioned that the shortage of runs might have led to their loss but acknowledged the Aussies as the superior team. Despite the defeat, he feels proud to lead his team as captain.
“I feel proud to be the captain of the Pakistan team and I know that being on a losing side is critical, we should have scored 20 more runs, if we could the situation would be different.” He responded.”
Tom Straker was awarded the Player of the Match for his remarkable six-wicket performance earlier in the game. He remarked that the match became closer than they had hoped, and after his dismissal, everyone was on the edge of their seats. Straker expressed pride in his bowling performance and credited the rest of the bowling unit for effectively limiting the opposition to under 180 runs.
