England’s skipper Heather Knight adamant to win against Pakistan in the ODI series

England Women’s cricket captain, Heather Knight, has expressed her desire for the team to continue their dominant winning streak in the upcoming ODI series versus Pakistan.

After a dominant 3-0 T20 series victory, England is now setting their sights on the upcoming ODI series against Pakistan. The three-match contest kicks off in Derby on Thursday.

Even though the T20 World Cup is coming up in October and grabbing most of the attention, England captain Heather Knight insists that the upcoming ODI series against Pakistan is still very important.

Heather strictly believes that for the team it’s all about improving as a group regardless of the format of the game.

She was determined that the team wanted to keep winning series and win them ruthlessly just as they did in the T20I series against Pakistan.

Last year, England dominated in limited-overs cricket, winning both their ODI series against Australia and Sri Lanka. They also secured a convincing 2-1 series win during their April tour of New Zealand.

England has a busy ODI schedule ahead. They’ll face off against Pakistan in the current series, followed by the multi-format Ashes in January which includes three ODIs in India, all leading up to the 50-over World Cup hosted by India in 2025.

With head coach Jon Lewis emphasizing a more aggressive brand of cricket, captain Heather Knight is determined to see her team carry this attacking style into the ODI format.

Knight added that the team always aims to be positive but in ODI we have that extra time to read the situations we are in.

As for the New Zealand series, Knight believes that the team didn’t have the tempo set and hopefully, they can show intent in the ODI series against Pakistan.

England bolsters their batting with the return of opener Tammy Beaumont, while seamer Kate Cross rejoins the bowling attack after missing the T20 series. However, they face a selection headache as all-rounder Nat Sciver-Brunt remains unavailable to bowl, forcing them to find the right balance for the ODI squad.

England thrived with their spin attack in the T20 series. Sarah Glenn, Sophie Ecclestone, and Charlie Dean were all on fire, showcasing excellent bowling form.

Speaking of the magnificent trio of the spinners, Knight added that they haven’t played in 50-overs together but they have been so good as a group that it’d be hard to leave even one of them out of the team.

Still, the captain was adamant that depth in batting is more important so that’s something they are going to consider.
