Babar Azam, Gary Kirsten

Gary Kirsten wants Babar Azam to play his natural game freely

Pakistan’s white-ball head coach, Gary Kirsten has revealed his plan to support Babar Azam in playing with his full potential as a player.

The newly appointed coach in an interview with TalkSport Cricket, Gary Kirsten applauded Babar Azam’s recent performances but also suggested that the player is best when he plays his natural game.

Kirsten said that he has been in touch with Babar and he has done remarkably well as a cricketer and sort of carries a lot of the weight of that team on his shoulders.

He revealed he plans to lift that a little bit and to help Babar realize that he is just one of a whole group of players and then he can just free himself up to play with his natural talent.

He says that he saw Babar play his natural game in the last match against Ireland and he thinks Babar played an outstanding inning he is hopeful that the world gets to see kind of a lot more of that Babar Azam rather than the one that feels that he has to be contributing all the time to a team.

Kirsten emphasized that T20 cricket is not only a single match-winner in a team game. He is hoping to build a team where all the players are capable of being match-winners and playing at their full potential and capabilities.

Gary Kirsten will meet up with the Pakistani squad before the England series on May 19th at Leeds.

Kirsten is a world wide acclaimed cricket coach who has coached India and South Africa from 2008-2011 and 2011-2013 respectively.

It was under Kirsten’s coaching that MS Dhoni led India to their second Cricket World Cup in 2011.
