Gaddafi Stadium Set for a Transformation for the Champions Trophy 2025
Pakistan will host the event next year
The iconic Gaddafi Stadium is undergoing a significant makeover to elevate it to the standards of the Dubai Cricket Stadium. This ambitious project, spearheaded by the Pakistan
Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB), aims to provide a world-class experience for spectators and players alike, all in preparation for Pakistan’s hosting of the Champions Trophy next year.
The renovation’s core focus revolves around enhancing spectators’ viewing experience. Inspired by the unobstructed views offered at the Dubai Stadium, Gaddafi Stadium will be remodeled to ensure every seat provides a clear line of sight to the action on the field. This will eliminate any current obstructions that may hinder the game’s enjoyment.
A significant change will involve the relocation of the hospitality boxes. Currently situated too far from the field, these exclusive areas will be moved closer to the ground, placing VIP attendees in the heart of the action. This move improves their experience and allows for potentially better utilization of the freed-up space.

Discussions are underway to increase the seating capacity in the Imran Khan and Fazal Mahmood enclosures. This will allow more fans to witness the electrifying atmosphere of major matches. Additionally, the possibility of installing a large screen is being explored. This giant screen would enhance the match-day experience by providing close-up replays, player statistics, and other entertaining visuals.
The renovation project prioritizes maximizing space utilization for spectator comfort. As part of this plan, the main building of the stadium will see a transformation. The rooms currently used by board directors will be demolished to create more space for public amenities. These director’s rooms will be relocated to the National Cricket Academy (NCA) or the Cricket House, ensuring their functionality remains without compromising the fan experience.
PCB Chairman Mohsin Naqvi has strongly emphasized improving spectator facilities and ensuring an unobstructed view for all. While overseeing Pakistan’s participation in international matches abroad, Naqvi remains dedicated to the Gaddafi Stadium project. Upon his return, discussions regarding the upgrades planned for the Karachi and Rawalpindi stadiums will resume.
This detailed look at the Gaddafi Stadium renovation plans paints a picture of an exciting transformation. The project promises to elevate the stadium to international standards, offering a world-class experience for cricket fans and players alike. With a focus on improved views, increased capacity, modern amenities, and a commitment to optimizing space, the future of Gaddafi Stadium looks bright.
