European Dominance in 2023-24 Kia All-NBA First Team

In the 2023-24 Kia All-NBA First Team, three European players were included: season MVP Nikola Jokic, Luka Doncic, and Giannis Antetokounmpo. The First, Second, and Third Team picks were disclosed on Wednesday.

Kia All-NBA First Team

Jokic of the Denver Nuggets was selected to the Kia All-NBA First Team for the fourth consecutive time with a unanimous vote of 99. Shai Gilgeous-Alexander from the Thunder in Oklahoma City also hit a high score of 495 points. Doncic from the Dallas Mavericks earned a spot on the Second Team with 493 points, securing his fifth consecutive year on the Kia All-NBA First Team. The Greek Freak from the Milwaukee Bucks received his sixth consecutive recognition with a total of 88 first-team and 11 second-team selections, resulting in 473 points. Jayson Tatum from the Boston Celtics secured a spot on the Kia All-NBA First Team with a total of 427 points.

Second Team Highlights

Jalen Brunson from the New York Knicks, Anthony Edwards from the Minnesota Timberwolves, Kevin Durant from the Phoenix Suns, Kawhi Leonard from the Los Angeles Clippers, and Anthony Davis from the Los Angeles Lakers, all fell between 230 to 368 points and were selected for the Second Team.

Third Team Recognition

Domantas Sabonis, the Sacramento Kings’ top player, earned a spot on the Third Team for the second consecutive year. He received 104 points after receiving one vote for the first team, 16 votes for the second team, and 51 votes for the third team. LeBron James, Stephen Curry, Tyrese Haliburton, and Devin Booker, all players from NBA teams, were seen sitting next to the Lithuanian superstar.

French Rudy Gobert of the Minnesota Timberwolves, after winning Defensive Player of the Year, received one second-place vote and nine third-place votes from other players, resulting in a total of 12 points. Fellow Frenchman and Rookie of the Year, Victor Wembanyama of the San Antonio Spurs scored 11 points and received two second-team and five third-team selections.

The 2023-24 Kia All-NBA Teams reflect the global influence and exceptional talent spread across the league, underscoring the diverse and dynamic nature of today’s NBA.
