Shai Gilgeous-Alexander fouled Washington while he was shooting a three-pointer with 2.5 seconds left.
He successfully scored the first two free throws prior to deliberately missing the third one.
Even though the Thunder got the rebound, Jalen Williams’ shot from long range missed by a wide margin as the Dallas Mavericks won the best-of-seven series 4-2.
They will play against the Denver Nuggets or the Minnesota Timberwolves, the defending NBA champions, in the conference finals following their game-seven decider on Sunday.
The team that emerges victorious from the seven-game series will advance to the NBA Finals commencing on 6 June.
Luka Doncic achieved a triple-double with 29 points, 10 rebounds, and 10 assists for the Mavericks, who have made it to the conference finals twice in three years.
Dallas Mavericks’ Kyrie Irving stated that completing the series feels good. finding yourself trailing by 17 points in a decisive game is not a situation you want to find yourself in.
We needed to react as we have been all season, by playing tough defense, pushing the ball in transition, and having faith in our pace to help us catch up in the game.

Gilgeous-Alexande, who netted 36 points for the Thunder, admitted: “I regret fouling him; I would have allowed him to take the shot, whether he made it or missed it.”
