Ben Stokes to return for Durham after two years of absence
England’s Ben Stokes to play first County match in two years as Durham will play against Lancashire starting on Friday.
Stokes played for Durham back in May 2022. Stokes is also ready to represent the English Test team in the West Indies and Sri Lanka series later this year.
Stokes had played in three matches for Durham in 2022 for Division Two.
Stokes had abstained from participating in any of the county matches last season as he had his knee to recover before the Ashes.
Talking about Stokes’ readiness to play for Durham, the club’s head coach Ryan Campbell said that if a person has a few days off of the weekend then they should definitely get to Blackpool to watch the great Ben Stokes return for Durham in the County Championship.

Durham is excited to welcome Stokes back into the squad. Campbell while talking to BBC Radio Newcastle said there’s an air of excitement around the place or whenever he walks in a room.
Suddenly there’s just this air of excitement around the place just when he walks in the room,” Campbell told BBC Radio Newcastle.
He added that a team wants to play against one of the best players in the world but to have one of the best in the team, showing the ropes to the team and conveying his experiences is just another thing.
Stokes will not play in the T20 World Cup in June as he is more concentrated on playing for the Test team.
Stokes had recently gone through a knee surgery and participated in all the five Test matches when England toured India. England’s first Test against the West Indies will start from July 10th in which Stokes will captain the national side.
