Ben Duckett believes he can complement England’s squad for the 2024 Cricket World Cup
Ben Duckett is convinced that his skill set could go well with England’s combination of big-hitters in their batting lineup for the T20 World Cup 2024 in June.
With Dawid Malan out of the squad due to his sudden retirement, Duckett could be a good replacement for Malan in the 15-member World Cup squad as he has a strike rate of 145 in T20Is.
“The beauty of what I do is different to a lot of guys,” England’s Test opener told the PA news agency. “That aspect of not necessarily having the power, but I can use my skills to find ways to get on top.
“I’m 29 now and I’m not going to try to be someone I’m not just to try to get into a side. I’ve worked out over the years that if I become the best version of myself, that’s all I can be.

“Whatever opportunity I get moving forward in that group is something I’d take with both hands. If I don’t get picked then I don’t get picked. There is a list of players knocking on that door.
“It’s not like it’s me and a couple of others, there are 10 or 15 lads who could come into that side and perform at that level. That is the beauty of English cricket, so I guess we’ll see.”
England will play four matches with Pakistan before the World Cup that will prove to be warm-ups for the teams and the board is expected to announce the squad for the World Cup and the series by next week.
But if Duckett is not called forward by the selecting committee or his captain Jos Butler, he’ll happily continue playing for Nottinghamshire in the Vitality County Championship and T20 Blast.
The World Cup 2024 Is set to start in June in the US and the West Indies with England’s first match on June 4th against Scotland at the Kensington Oval Barbados.
