Australia won their 4th Under-19 World Cup
On February 11, 2024, the Australian U-19 teams won the toss and decided to bat first in the final. They decided to play first due to some pitch conditions, and they were right about it. In the first inning, the opening pair consisted of H. Dixon and S. Konstas. In the beginning, they looked quite confident about their batting today, but Indian bowler Raj Limbani took the wicket of S. Konstas in the 3rd over while the Australian team had only 16 runs on the board.
After the first wicket, H. Weibgen came on the crease, and both the batters had an amazing partnership in the 21st over when they were on 94. Naman Tiwari got the wicket of strong-looking H. Weibgen; he scored 48 from 66 balls with a strike rate of 72.73. Furthermore, H. Sing came to bat, and they started to score some runs on the board. Naman Tiwari struck again and got the wicket of H. Dixon when he was on 42 on 56 balls. After that, R. Hicks scored 20 on 25, and C. Anderson scored 13 on 18 and got out of the hand of Raj Limbani (lbw).

Musheer Khan took the wicket of R. Macmillan, who succeeded in scoring only 2 runs. Ollie Peake remained out at the end of their inning. They succeeded in scoring 253 runs in 50 overs and gave the target of 245 to India to chase.
While chasing, India started with Adarsh Singh and Arshin Kulkarni. Australian bowler Callum Vidler immediately took the wicket of Arshin Kulkarni when he was on just 3 from 6 balls. Musheer Khan was the first batsman who helped A. Singh a lot, but he also failed to score more runs and gave his wicket to Mahli Beardman when the team’s total score was just 40. Musheer scored 22 runs on 33 balls.
After this wicket, India’s batting line-up struggled so hard that they lost the wickets of Uday Sharan, Sachin Dhas, and P. Moliya; their average score was 9. After the loss of these important wickets, Murugan Perumal Abhishek came and helped Adarsh Singh score some more runs when suddenly Mahli Beardman got his wicket.
He scored a brilliant 47 from 77 balls with a strike rate of 61.04. Raj Limbani, the next batsman, got out on a duck, and S.K. Pandey on 2. Murugan Perumal Abhishek scored 42 runs from 46 balls, which brought team India close to their target, but the Australian bowlers got them all out on 174 in the 44th over and won the match by 79 runs.
“It is unbelievable, and I am so proud of the boys and the coaches. A lot of hard work went into it over the last few months; everyone was open to doing whatever they were asked to, and to put on 250 plus was brilliant, and the bowlers backed it up.” Hugh Weibgen said after the match.
After the match, Mahli Beardman was awarded the Player of the Match Award due to his brilliant bowling in the match. He took 3 wickets by just giving up 15 runs in 7 overs.
South Africa’s u-19 player, Kena Maphaka, won the title of player of the series.
