Australia becomes the number 1 ranked Test Team in the World
As of new test rankings revealed by the ICC on May 3rd, Australia the current champion of the ICC World Test Championship, has overthrown India and retained their spot as the number 1 Test team in the world.
Australia, led by Pat Cummins, defeated India by 209 runs in the World Test Championship at the historical venue of The Oval last year.
The win against India has helped Australia’s rating to increase to 124 points four more than the runner-up of last year’s Test Championship who have 120 points.
Meanwhile, current T20 World Cup 2022 champions England is at number three with 105 points.

The rise of Australia to the 1st rank and the decline of India to the 2nd rank are the only changes in the rankings with South Africa (103 points), New Zealand (96 points), Pakistan (89 points), Sri Lanka (83 points), West Indies (82 points), and Bangladesh (53 points) retaining their same rankings from fourth to ninth.
These rankings are the result of an update that occurred while taking into consideration the performances of teams only after May 2021.
While India has lost the top ranking, they still maintain their rankings in the other two formats.
