A Mother’s Love and Kevin Durant Heart Touching Speech
A decade ago, Kevin Durant gave his memorable speech upon receiving the 2013-14 Kia MVP award. Seldom does a speech start with such a touching and unforgettable mellow tone. He squirmed in a slim-fit blue suit as he explained that he was feeling a bit nervous today. He wandered away from that location. He expressed gratitude towards the essential individuals – 38 in total, excluding God who was mentioned at the beginning and end – which is customary for someone receiving a significant award.
He talked about the moment, its significance, and the emotions it evoked.
This was spontaneous and unprepared. The tiny piece of paper he was holding had only a handful of names hastily written down to help him remember. The crowd chuckled at a few quick jokes and got ready to applaud as he paused to catch his breath before the end.
3,039 words were spoken, but only the last dozen or so gained fame. In a speech that lasted almost seven minutes, the last 90 seconds captivated you like an addictive force.
Not long after Kevin Durant glanced at his mother and uttered, “I don’t think you realize what you’ve done,” his mouth became parched.
Mama Durant is like a mother to everyone …
In NBA history, there have been 36 valuable players, who are a mix of shooters, rebounders, and players who can change the outcome of a game.

None of them were considered as authentic.
No one was a mother.
Just like how Mama Kevin Durant is seen by old acquaintances and new acquaintances who only know her from That Speech.
Wanda Durant’s life went through three major transformations: when she became a mother when her son Kevin achieved success in the NBA, and when he expressed his love for her on May 6, 2014.
“Even ten years later, she still couldn’t believe he unexpectedly propelled her onto a platform,” she shared with NBA.com.
She transitioned from the darkness to the spotlight. Supporters, whether at home or away, shouted “M-V-P.” Organizations such as JP Morgan Chase, the Ford Foundation, and the Congressional Black Caucus requested her to share her story. She required the services of a public relations specialist.
She did not pull back from everything. She continues to say: “I appreciate it.”
She was pleasantly surprised a few times.
Firstly, she received hugs from NBA players when they competed against her son. They imitated KD’s closest friends, who consistently called her Mama. She said to them:
“When you address me in that manner, I understand that I am accountable to you.”
Secondly, she was informed by other mothers, whether at the games, on the street, or during social gatherings. In large quantities. They had narratives to recount, journeys to recount, and challenges and victories to depict.
“Grandmothers, grandfathers, they watched his speech and it brought back memories of their mother,” Wanda commented. A 79-year-old woman was present. She mentioned shedding tears following the speech.
Thirdly, two years later, Lifetime broadcasted “The Real MVP: The Wanda Durant Story,” which was created by Queen Latifah and featured Pauletta Washington, Denzel’s wife, in the lead role.
His Son Replies…
In addition to the sacrifice she made, Kevin Durant owes a lot to his mother’s guidance, especially one piece of advice.

My mother encouraged me to prioritize my interests at a very young age, around seven or eight years old. And from that point on, she made sure I was responsible. So, as I grew older, I came to understand the significance of that, dude. Because we were at risk of being overlooked, she made sure I didn’t get overlooked even once.
It appears that Kevin Durant will never be able to thank his mother sufficiently, whether it’s Mother’s Day or any other day. Wanda Durant claims that he has accomplished that and even surpassed expectations.
She stated that what she finds rewarding is his character beyond basketball, his interactions with people, and the influence he has on others. “He has expressed his gratitude by persisting in those actions.”
